Kinsey Middleton Looks to Defend Title

Idaho Distance Project athlete Kinsey Middleton is the returning 2018 Canadian National Marathon Women's Champion, and will be looking to defend her title in Toronto on Saturday, October 19th.


The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon is an IAAF Gold Label certified race, and will serve again as the Canadian Marathon Championships, as well as Athletics Canada's Marathon Trials for the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo.


Kinsey's debut marathon was at this same race last October. She crossed the line as first Canadian woman in 2:32:09, earning her the national title. This year she hopes to defend her title while chasing a spot on Canada's Olympic team in the marathon.

Teammate Emma Bates had this to say about Kinsey, " It's amazing to have a female {teammate] that's just so focused and has the same ambitions as me, making the Olympic team in the marathon!"


The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon has grown into one of the most competitive road races in the world, attracting over 25,000 runners from 75 countries. The 26.2 mile race will start at University Avenue and Queens Street, with the gun going off at 8:45 a.m. ET. There will be a free live broadcast available via AthleticsCanada.tv scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. ET.
