Spotlight on Kristen Morse - Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifier

Updated: Mar 3

Kristen (Findley) Morse has been a competitive runner for 18 years, but her first decade as a runner she didn't compete at a distance longer than the mile. Fast forward from her early years of mid-distance races to 2018 and she finishes fourth in the USA Trail Marathon Championships! Sponsored by Under Armor, she has been pushing herself on the trails, conquering not just long distances but technical paths, elevation climbs and drops, crossing streams, and scrambling over rocks. In June 2019, just a week after her wedding, Kristen brought her distance experience down to the streets and qualified for the US Olympic Marathon Trials. In her road debut at 26.2 miles she finished in 20:40:27.

Following her OTQ this past summer Kristen headed back to the trails for some alternative challenges. As posted on her Instagram account, "Switching to mountains after training for an Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier on the road has been such a breath of fresh air (literally). So grateful for the unbeatable from-the-door training runs and races I have access to here in Utah. I am totally ready to channel my inner mountain lion for the US of A! " Kristen competed for Team USA at the NACAC Mountain Running Championships held in Mexico on October 20, 2019, placing fourth overall (3rd team) and contributing to the Team USA's first place finish. Experience in the demands of mountain and trail running should be useful to Kristen on the constantly undulating Olympic Marathon Trials course in Atlanta.
