Talented Trio Takes on the Twin Cities!

Three athletes from the Idaho Distance Project will be traveling to Minnesota to take to the streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul on Sunday, October 6th.

IDP teammates Sam Diaz (#23) and Franny Zander (#97) are all smiles as they enjoy the Payette Lake Run 30K race!

Often referred to as "The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America", the Twin Cities will play host to the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon this Sunday. Beginning in downtown Minneapolis, runners will skirt several small lakes and race along the Mississippi River before crossing a bridge into St. Paul, and finishing near the State Capitol building. The competitors will have 26.2 miles to enjoy the crisp autumn air and colorful foliage. IDP's Franny Zander will be racing in just her second marathon, looking to lower the time she set down in her inaugural marathon this past April in Eugene, Oregon. Franny's goal is to cross the finish line in under 2:45:00 in order to qualify for the Olympic Trials in February, 2020 . Start time for the marathon is at 8:00 am Central Standard Time. The Twin Cities Marathon is one of the top 10 largest marathons in the US and is sanctioned and certified by the USATF.

Toeing the line in their first Twin Cities 10 Miler will be IDP athletes, Grayson Murphy and Megan Lacy. The challenging course for this race begins in downtown Minneapolis as well, follows along the Mississippi River from about miles 2-5, sharing the same course as the marathon from mile 3 to the finish line. Grayson is coming off of a National title win at the USATF Mountain Running Championships last weekend, descending from the elevated mountain trails to run the urban streets. Megan is putting one more race in the books this season before gearing up for the US Marathon Olympic Trials in February. In her marathon debut this past June, Megan qualified for the trails at Grandma's Marathon, Duluth, MN, with a time of 2:39:12. The gun time for the 10 mile race will be just before sunrise at 7:00 a.m., Central Standard Time.

Good luck and race hard Franny, Grayson and Megan!
