Sam grew up in Northern California where she started off her running days thinking she was a 400m runner and a 300m Hurdler. Towards the end of her high school days the 800m popped into her life and that brought her to the University of Nevada, Reno where she found her love for the mile/1500…and birds (Ravens are her favorite). Sam graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation and now works as a field biologist researching birds of prey (also loves American Kestrel…tiny and mighty falcons!).
After a break post-collegiality she is back in action testing the waters of various distances on the road and off. She is excited about the new challenges and possibilities that come with these longer race distances.
